Ninja Van raises $578 million in Series E funding, Alibaba among Investors

Ninja Van has raised $578 million in Series E funding, pulling in existing and new investors that include Chinese e-commerce giant Alibaba Group. The latest round comes over a year after it secured $279 million in Series D and amidst talks it is targeting a US public listing.  Singapore-based logistics services operator Ninja Van said last Sunday that its latest funding round pulled in existing investors Geopost/DPDgroup, B Capital Group, Monk's Hill Ventures, and Zamrud. JD Logistics launches smart logistics park in Xinjiang

JD Logistics launched a smart logistics park, JD Urumqi Asia No.1, in Urumqi, Xinjiang on Sep. 29. With an area of nearly 100,000 square meters, it is the autonomous region’s first and largest smart logistics park. The park is estimated to process as many as 1.2 million items daily. This is the 39th smart logistics park run by JD nationwide. Adopting automation and robotics, the logistics park will enable 80% of JD’s orders in Urumqi to be fulfilled within 24 hours, and overall orders in Xinjiang to be fulfilled within two days. That is a huge improvement for local consumers, who used to waiting up to a week for online orders to arrive. JD Launches China-UK Cargo Charter Flight

JD launched an all-cargo charter flight between China and the UK on September 8, the e-commerce giant’s first regular cargo flight to Europe. JD Property Group offered to buy a 26% stake in China Logistics

Chinese e-commerce giant JD.com's real estate unit has made a HK$3.99 billion ($513.45 million) offer to buy a controlling stake in storage facilities manager China Logistics Property Holdings, the companies said in a joint exchange filing on Friday. JD Property Group offered to buy a 26.38% stake in China Logistics for HK$4.35 per share from its top shareholder, Yupei International Investment Management. That would take JD.com's stake in China Logistics to about 35.8%, making it mandatory under the Hong Kong takeover code for the e-commerce giant to make a general offer for the whole company. Meituan announces plans for drone logistics network at 2021 WAIC

During this year's WAIC (World Artificial Intelligence Conference) in Shanghai Meituan has introduced a new self-developed drone model. The Company also announced plans for a drone logistics network pilot program in Shanghai. During the presentation Meituan demonstrated how drones and delivery riders could conceivably work together to deliver orders. In a partnership with local government, Meituan will explore opportunities for the construction of a demonstration center in Shanghai’s southwestern district of Jinshan.
