JD.com launches Physical Store JD MALL in Xi’an, China

JD.com launched the “JD MALL” brand, the upgraded version of its E-Space omni-channel retail experience store on September 14, via an online press conference. The new shopping destination will first debut in Xi’an, China, on September 30. With an area of 42,000 square meters across five floors, JD MALL in Xi’an offers an immersive omni-channel shopping experience to consumers through 200,000 items from over 150 domestic and international brands. JD.com Takes Equity Stake Duty-Free Retailer Lagardère

Chinese e-commerce giant, JD.com is expanding in the travel-retail channel by taking a shareholding in the North Asia business of Paris-based global duty-free operator Lagardère Travel Retail. The Company is part of France’s Lagardère Group. JD.com and state-owned fund China Jianyin Investment (JIC) are jointly investing $112 million to take respective shares of 18.6% and 3.7% in the North Asia division. The Company generated revenue of $176 million in 2020 from travel shopping and duty-free activities in Mainland China, Hong Kong and Japan. The deal is expected to close next month. Chinese e-commerce platform Meicai to postpone US IPO plan

Alibaba invests in VinMart operator The CrownX

A consortium led by Chinese e-commerce giant Alibaba will invest $400 million in the subsidiary of conglomerate Masan Group that operates retail chain VinMart.
